Location: San Diego, CA
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM (30-minute lunch)
Compensation: Up to $105,000 annually

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support a busy Commercial Business Litigation practice. This role is a critical member of the litigation team, providing comprehensive administrative and legal support to multiple attorneys handling complex business disputes. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing competing priorities in a fast-paced law firm environment.

This position offers the opportunity to work alongside accomplished litigators while playing a key role in the successful management of high-stakes cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, format, proofread, and finalize a variety of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery responses, correspondence, and court filings.
  • Electronically file documents in state and federal courts, ensuring compliance with all applicable filing requirements, procedures, and deadlines.
  • Maintain and organize case files, legal records, and document management systems.
  • Serve as a professional point of contact for clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, vendors, and other external contacts.
  • Respond to inquiries, relay information accurately, and ensure timely attorney follow-up.
  • Manage multiple attorney calendars, including scheduling court appearances, depositions, mediations, hearings, client meetings, and deadlines.
  • Coordinate and confirm appointments with clients, witnesses, court reporters, and other parties involved in litigation matters.
  • Monitor case deadlines and proactively track outstanding tasks to ensure timely completion.
  • Prepare expense reports and assist with billing-related documentation and administrative processes.
  • Provide general administrative support and handle special projects and ad hoc assignments as needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of litigation experience, preferably within a commercial business litigation practice.
  • Previous experience supporting multiple attorneys in a mid-size to large law firm environment.
  • Strong knowledge of litigation procedures, legal terminology, court rules, and filing requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with document management systems such as iManage.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Experience working in a large law firm ("Big Law") environment.

Work Environment

  • Professional, collaborative law firm environment supporting complex commercial litigation matters.
  • Firm's hybrid policy allows for up to four remote workdays per month (subject to change).
  • Remaining workdays are required to be onsite in the San Diego office.
  • Occasional overtime may be required based on business needs and court deadlines.
